The Painting Club was a gathering where participants talked, learned and shared the experience of painting. It was an unconventional, theatrical presentation of painting. Taking place in Exit Art’s Trickster Theater space, four artists presented their paintings one at a time in the center of a stage lit by theatrical and photographic lights. Before each painting was presented to the audience, the title of the work was announced. The audience than had three minutes for silent observation. A reception followed. It was held in conjunction with the exhibition Geometric Days on April 23, 2011.
