    Exhibition: A project of SEA (Social-Environmental Aesthetics), Waterpod: Autonomy and Ecology documents and revisits the Waterpod's five-month voyage around the boroughs of New York. It includes videos, photographs, relics, art works, journal entries, and ephemera that tell the story of this unusual public art project.

    Exhibition: ECOAESTHETIC: The Tragedy of Beauty was the first exhibition of SEA (Social Environmental Aesthetics) to be mounted in Exit Art’s main gallery. In keeping with SEA’s mission to present artworks that address socio-environmental concerns – and to unite artists, scholars, scientists and the public in discussion on these issues – ECOAESTHETIC presented the work of nine international photographers who investigated the mystery of beauty in the natural and built environment.

    Exhibition: Alternative Histories was a history of New York City alternative art spaces and projects since the 1960s. Through audio interviews with founders and key staff, a reading room of magazines and publications, documentation, ephemera and narrative descriptions, the exhibition told the story of pioneering spaces and documented a new generation of alternative projects.

    Exhibition: Graphic Radicals was a 30th anniversary retrospective of World War 3 Illustrated, an independently published political comic magazine founded in 1980 by artists Seth Tobocman and Peter Kuper. Comprised of original comics drawings, paintings, posters, commissioned murals, documentary film, animation and a complete set of issues, Graphic Radicals was the largest World War 3 Illustrated exhibition to date and highlighted the history that the magazine has scrutinized, documented, and participated in for three decades.

    Exhibition: Exit Art announces Fracking: Art and Activism Against the Drill. Hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) is a means of gas extraction that accesses gas trapped more than a mile below the earth’s surface. This exhibition, a project of SEA (Social Environmental Aesthetics), will expose this process of gas extraction that is contaminating water supplies worldwide. Through documentary videos, photography by Jacques del Conte and Michael Forster Rothbart, commissioned works, public responses and literature, it will engage the public in dialogue on this issue through public lectures and calls to action and encourage audiences to continue educating themselves and their communities on fracking and its detrimental effects.
