Exit Art, an experimental cultural center, explores ideas concerning the private and public uses of water with its performance series Water Project. As we become increasingly aware of the global water crisis we are forced to consider our personal relationship to water. Using their bodies, the participating artists address issues such as contamination, shortages, filtration, hygiene, and ritual. Performances will take place simultaneously on two separate evenings at Exit Art. Although each artist addresses the specific topic in his/her own unique performance, the pieces function collectively as one theatrical presentation.

ARTISTS

Rob Andrews, Mayumi Ishino, Saeri Kiritani (with Karen Sorensen, Mark Ransom, Jennifer Scott Mobley, and Michael Divorkin), Jodie Lyn-Kee-Chow, Nicoykatiushka, Jolie Pichardo, Pasha Radetzki, Rafael Sanchez, Akiko Sasamoto, Jeffrey Schiff and Mark Stafford (with Oliver Jones, Matt Lucash, Kevin Reay and Austin Shul)

DIRECTOR

Papo Colo

“The Trickster performance theatre is an experimental approach to presenting performance art in which unique individual voices make up a collective work. The artists develop a specific shared subject. The group performs simultaneously inside an exhibition of the same subject. The curve of performance art is the collective theatre”.
